The storm in my life
Chapter 20
Katherine’s POV
“Mum, calm down”, I said to her and my dad looked at me
confused.
“No Katherine, you don’t understand. Someone is trying to
keep us unhappy, but with my God being so good, I got here on time before any
move could be made”, she said.
“Mum, yeah, God is so good for providing me with that car”.
“What car?” she asked, confused.
“Mum, the car over there is mine”, I said, smiling.
“Yours? How? Katherine I hope you’re not getting us into
trouble”.
“Oh God, mum! Be optimistic. My new company got me the car”,
I said.
“A new company?” she asked.
“Yeah, when I come home, I will tell you all about it”.
“Mmm, okay”, she said, still confused.
“Don’t worry mum, everything is fine. Call the cops and tell
them that you’re fine”.
“Okay, I’ll do just that. How is your dad?” she asked.
“He’s fine, he gets better too. Now he’s fully active”.
“Okay, have you spoken to the doctor yet?”
“Not yet, but I’ll go there soon”.
“Okay, tell him that I will come there this evening”, she
said.
“No mum, you even sound tired. Just rest, he is fine. He’s not
a baby”, I said and my dad looked at me, grinning.
“Okay, has he eaten?”
“Dad you’ve eaten right?” I asked him and he nodded.
“Yeah, he has”.
“Okay, I’ll see him tomorrow”, she said.
“Alright, that’s fine”.
“Okay, I’m going to rest, I’ll see you later in the day”,
she said.
“Okay”, I said, and she hanged up.
“What did your mum do this time?” my dad said laughing.
“She filed a complaint on a missing but found car”, I said
and he laughed even more.
“Is she coming today?”
“No, I told her not to. You’re okay with it, right?”
“Yeah, absolutely”.
“Alright, I’m going to see the doctor, I’ll be right back”,
I said to him and I left.
I went to the doctor’s office and he was quite busy on his
laptop, but when I walked in, he quickly put it away.
“Good afternoon Doctor”, I said, smiling and I sat down.
“Afternoon Miss Kerry, how are you doing?”
“I’m good by God’s grace, how about yourself?”
“I’m also good”.
“Okay, that’s great. We thank God”, I said, smiling.
“Yeah, we do”, he said, and I smiled.
“So, how’s my dad’s health?” I asked.
“He’s fine. He responded quickly to his treatment”.
“Yeah, it’s all God’s doing”, I said, smiling and he nodded.
“So, when does he get to be discharged? I asked the doctor.
“Tomorrow will be fine”, he said.
“Tomorrow?” I said, grinning.
“Yeah, he’s good to go, for now actually?”
“For now?” I asked, lifting up my left brow.
“You know his predicament is deadly, and we can’t tell what’s
going to happen later on, but we can control it. so he’ll have to come to the
hospital for a check-up every two weeks”, he said, and I frowned.
“Oh, I see. But you’re handling it well, right?” I asked
him.
“Yeah, we are. We’re going everything in our power to take
care of him”, he said.
“Okay, thank you very much. What time do I come for him
tomorrow?” I asked.
“At noon, you can come at this same time, tomorrow”.
“Okay, have you discussed his health with him?” I asked, because
I didn’t have it in me to say all that the doctor just said to him.
“Not yet, but you don’t have to worry about that. I will
talk to him today”, he said.
“Okay, thank you very much”, I said, smiling and I took my
leave.
I went back to my dad’s room and told him about the good
news and left the sad part for the doctor to say.
After talking to him for a while, I took my leave.
*************
When I got home, my mum and Lucy were in the kitchen. They
were preparing supper, I guess.
“Kat”, Lucy said, when she saw me.
“Hey”, I said to her and I hugged her.
“Mmm, something really smells nice, what are you cooking
mum?” I said to her and she rolled her eyes.
I laughed on seeing that. It was definitely rice and stew
and it did smell good as usual, but I just felt like reminding her that I love
her cooking.
“Kat, I saw the new car outside and mum said that it’s yours”,
Lucy said, smiling.
“Yeah, it’s mine”, I said, smiling.
I still couldn’t believe that I owned a car.
“You care to tell me how that happened?” she asked me.
“Mum, God is really great. The other job I had wasn’t what I
wanted and I applied for Chappman oil company and I got a job there as the
overall assistant manager”, I said, smiling.
“Wow, that’s great”, my mum said, smiling. “God is really
good”, she said, waving her hands in the air.
“And that’s not all; they gave me the car and an apartment
as incentive”.
“Wow, that’s so wonderful. So the car is indeed yours and
you have an apartment too. Oh my God never disappoints. You see, I always told
you to wait on the Lord and now see, he has done it again. Oh God, you’re so
great”, she said, waving her hands in the air.
“Yeah, he is”, I said.
“Kat, can I get a ride in your car an can I move in with you”,
she said, putting up a puppy dog face.
“Lucy, you have homework to do and Kat is tired”, my mum said
to her and she frowned.
“Don’t mind mum, I will take you, mum and dad to see me
apartment tomorrow, and with the car, I can’t drive, when I get a driver, you’ll
get a ride in it”, I said, smiling at her and she nodded.
“When is your dad getting discharged?” she asked.
“Tomorrow”.
“Oh we thank God”, she said.
We talked for a while and I went to my room to shower and
rest for a while.
As I was resting, I took out my phone to give a testimony on
my church page, but I was surprised when I saw a crazy prayer point on the
page.
‘Please help me pray and ask God to prevent anything that’s
keeping Noah and I apart. We were getting really close and I saw marriage along
the line, but now there’s something really huge in the way. I know and feel
that he’s the one, please join me in prayers.
Is she serious? Isn’t this wrong?
