The storm in my life
Chapter 2
Katherine’s POV
I was really surprised to see the sunrise when I woke up.
Didn’t my alarm ring or maybe it did and I didn’t hear it.
I looked around and….
“Arrghhhhhhhh!!!!” I screamed.
A guy opened the door and ran in.
“Where am I?” I asked him.
It took me a while to recognise him, but where am I?
“You’re in my house cupcake, do not be scared. It’s just a house”, he said grinning.
“Why am I in your house?” I asked confused.
“You passed out and I’m not that psychic to locate your house”.
I rolled my eyes at him.
“I was out for how long?” I asked confused.
“For almost 24 hours. You really freaked me out, but you were breathing and sleep talking so, I knew you were alive”
I felt embarrassed.
“Uhm did we do anything?” I asked nervously biting my lower lip.
“No”, he said.
I let out a breathe that I didn’t know I was holding in.
“I’m not that kind of a person and besides you’re a Church girl. I don’t do church girls”.
“That’s way too much information, how did you know that I’m a church girl and don’t give me that whole crap of being psychic”, I said folding my arms and glaring at him.
“Your phone kept on ringing, playing that track which starts with wake up and smile. And you got a lot of calls from your pastor”.
“Oh shoot, I’m dead”, I said picking up my phone. 40 missed calls, 8 text messages!!! Woah, I’m in big trouble.
“I gotta go”, I said grabbing my shoe and bag and rushing towards the door.
“Just like that? Won’t you take a shower or get something to eat?”
“I’m in a lot of trouble right now to care about food and all that”, I said leaving.
“The exit is on your right, walk straight and you’ll see the back door”.
“Thank you”, I said, rushing to the exit.
“See you around”, he said. But I ignored him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I got home, I opened the back door gently and took a peek inside to see if anyone was in the kitchen.
The coast was clear.
So, I walked in on my toes. I was about to get to the stairs when my mum yelled.
“Katherine, where have you been?”
“Mum, I’m really sorry, I….”.
“Do you know how worried your dad and I were. You didn’t even pick your sister. Pastor Robert had to bring her home. He called you a lot of times you didn’t pick. We all tried calling you and no response. We were at the point of going to the police station, but we decided to wait till it was bright”.
“Mum, I’m so sorry, I….”, she cut me again.
“Where did you sleep last night and why do you look so horrible and eew, what’s that smell?”
“Alcohol”.
“What? Are you nuts? You went out drinking?”
“Mum, it wasn’t like that, I…..”
“Don’t…”
“Mum, if you’re going to keep interrupting me and yelling, I will just walk to my room. I’m grown for Christ sake; I don’t even have to account my whereabouts to you anymore”.
“Oh really? You’re still under my roof and you’ll have to account to me”.
“Yeah, my loss. I’ll get a job, get a house and leave yours for you”, she said looking at me confused.
And I looked away.
“Oh my God, Kat, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know”.
“Yeah, cos you didn’t let me talk”, I said walking away.
“Kat, I’m so….”.
“Mum, it’s fine. I just want to take a shower and rest. I have a long day tomorrow”.
“Okay honey”.
~~~~~~~
This was the 7th place that I had been to and was turned down due to silly reasons. I wasn’t going to give up, so I went back to the manager’s office.
“Hey madam, where are you going to?” the secretary said.
But I ignored her and walked in.
“Sir please, just take a look at my CV, you’ll really need me here”.
“Madam, I was clear when I said that there was no vacancy”, he said keeping a straight face.
“Please, I’m willing to do anything. Please”.
“Hmmm, let me make some calls and get back to you”.
I watched him make a call and then he smiled at me and I felt relieved.
“What do you think about being an escort?”
