I call the shots
Chapter 20
The ambulanceπ
came and quickly took Chantelle’s mum away and Chantelle’s dad followed his wife
in the ambulance.
Amanda left the house
in shock and embarrassment.
Chantelle sat in her
house and cried, whiles David comforted her.
“Chantelle instead of crying, let’s pray that she
survives”, David said.
“You don’t understand, even if she dies or survives, I’ll be charged
for attempted murder and I bet that the police are on their way”.
πππππ
“Where did you even get the gun from?”
“Reece”π¬π’
“You got to be kidding me”.π
“Someone was following me and I couldn’t approach
the person without being protected, so I had to look for a weapon and I knew
that Reece had one”.
“Mmmm.. Reece! So he
made a move on you?”
“Yeah, and you gave in?”
“David, I was sleepy and I don’t know what got into
me. I think I have a huge problem, I’ve never been truly satisfied with anything, I
always want more”, she said, crying.
ππ
“Chantelle relax. I’ll help you through this, but first let’s pray that
you don’t go to jail for this. Our baby can’t come to the world
like this, and I can’t have my wife behind bars”.
“You’re not divorcing me?”
π
“Chantelle, let’s focus on the issue at hand first. Get into the
mood of prayer”.
David and Chantelle
prayedππΌππΌ for over two hours, but were cut
short when the police stormed their home.
“Hey, get away from my wife!!” David screamed.
The cops ignored him
and handcuffed Chantelle.
“What am I being arrested for?” Chantelle asked
struggling with the cops.
“You’re being arrested for an attempted homicide”, the police
said.
ππππ
“Baby, my mum is alive”, Chantelle said
smiling ππand then she left with the police without struggling.
David quickly called
Candice and filled her in, and then he left for the police station.

Chantelle was sent to
jail and she waited patiently for her husband and Chantelle to arrive.
As she was waiting, she
went down on her knees to pray.
“God, I feel so distant from you right nowπ, and I
know that it’s the devil trying to prevent me from reaching out to you.
I destroy every evil manipulation now in the name of JesusππΌ.
Father Lord, I thank you for saving my mother, now I know that you’re always
there for me. God please right now, I’m asking you to forgive me for all my sins and
give me the strength to change my ways. God, I can’t do it alone, please
send your holy spirit to help me and guide me. God, I’m also asking you to
forgive my parents and Amanda, and give me the strength to forgive them tooππΌ.
Also help David to forgive meπ’, I love him so much and I don’t want him to
leave me☹, please help me out oh Lord. And finally, please help me
out in court, you know deep down that I didn’t want to kill my
mum, I don’t want to go to prison, I know that I have to be punished
for this, but please, I don’t want to go to prison. I thank you Lord for an answered
prayer”.
ππΌππΌ
She finished praying
and wiped her tears away.
After a long while, she
was taken out of her cell and taken to a room. When she got there, she saw her
Husband, Candice and Reece there.
“What’s he doing here?” she asked angrily.
π‘
“Trust me, I don’t even want him here, but you were in possession
of his gun, he has to admit it and accept all charges that comes with it”, David said.
“Is he going to admit to that?” she said glaring at
Reece.
ππ
“I will and I’m sorry for everything I’ve caused you,
Chantelle. I’ll admit that I was illegally in possession of a firearm
and I’ll take all charges that come with it”.
“Good!” David said.
“Candice, I don’t want to go to prison”, Chantelle said.
“Don’t worry, you won’t go there. There was no intent of killing and
she’s not dead too. But..”
“We’ll need your mum to testify that there was no intent”.
“She won’t do that for me, and she’s in the hospital”.
“She’s awake now, and
they can let her testify without her presence”.
“How?”
“A person might be allowed to testify via video conference
or telephone if he or she can’t be present in court. Didn’t you read that in
law school?”
π
“Will she do that?” She asked David.
“Hopefully”, her husband said.
▪******************
▪
They were in court and Chantelle’s mother was
live on camera.
“Chantelle baby, I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done. I’ve been a
very bad parent to you and I’m really sorry for that. My daughter here is a very strong
woman here and she’s not a murderer. There was no intent. I attacked her and
she took the gun out but it was mistakenly shot. Please release my baby to me”, she said
crying.
Chantelle was also in
tears. She was surprised that her mum defended her.
Candice went on with
the case and defended Chantelle.
It was time for the
final judgement.
Chantelle was released
and was given 3 months of community service.
Reece also received a
sentence of community work and a monetary penalty.
Chantelle sat on the
floor and thanked God.
Her husband hugged her
from behind.
“David are you going to leave me?”
π
“I won’t leave you, but we have to get you help”.π
“Thank you David”, she said turning around and hugging her
husband tight.
“Now, let’s go and see your mum”, he said pulling her
up.
They left the court for
the hospital.
▪**************▪
For the first time in
history, Chantelle and her mother were happy to see each other.
“I’m so sorry mum”, she said hugging her mum.
“I’m so sorry too baby. I really am, please forgive me for
everything I put you through”.
“I’ve forgiven you mum”.
π
“Forgive me too, Chantelle”, her dad said.
She held her dad’s hand and
smiled.
πππ
“And David is a very good man. He’s the best for you”, her mum
said smiling at David.
“David, please forgive me. I’m so sorry for
everything that I’ve done to wrong you”.
“You’re forgiven ma’am”,
“You can call me mum”, she said smiling.
“Okay mum”, he said smiling.
They were in there for
a while till Amanda showed up.
“Don’t even bother asking for forgiveness”, she said to
her.
Amanda paused in her
steps and everyone looked at Chantelle.
π§π§
“Cos, I’ve forgiven you”, she said laughing.
ππ
Amanda smiled at her
and hugged her friend.
“But, I’m deeply sorry for not being a very good friend, I should
have scolded you on the wrong things you did and advised you. It was really
selfish of me to not help you out”.
“It’s fine, Amanda. I’m the one at fault. I should have opened up to
you and humbled myself around you and Betty”.
They kept on talking
and then David and Chantelle went home.

▪
The following day, they
went to see their pastor in church and he advised them and prayed with them.
“Chantelle, you have to let the Holy Spirit dwell in you
completely and follow God seriously and you’ll be fine and also
keep remembering that you don’t call the shots. God actually calls the shots. David take
care of your wife and be her shepherd. God bless you both”, the pastor
said.
David and Chantelle
left and Chantelle promised to give her all to God.
