I call the shots
Chapter 9
Lewis was in his house
when he heard the doorbell go off.
ππ
βLewis get the doorβ, his mother yelled.
βSure mumβ, he said, heading towards the door.
He opened the door and
saw Chantelle standing there.
βWhat are you doing here Chantelle?β he asked frowning.
π£π£
βCan I come in?β she said slurring her word.
βAre you drunk?β
βMhmmπβ.she said grinning.
βCome inβ he said, giving her way to come in.
βDonβt make a soundβ, he said, sneaking her to his room.
βWho was that, Lewis?β His mum asked from
her room.
βChantelle, she came to drop off somethingβ.
βOkayβ.
As they got to the
room, Chantelle dived on Lewisβ bed giggling.
ππ
βChantelle are you fine?β
βYeahπ, but my mum isnβt fineπ. Sheβs a bastardπ―
and my dad, heβs just so in loveπ€£ and is so blind to see that sheβll be the one
to set our home on fireβ, she said giggling.
ππ
βAnd my brother, heβs too busy being a good boyπ£ and being
obedient to my mum like a dog, everyone in that house is messed up and they
call themselves Christiansππ. β, she said slurring
her words and giggling.
βYou need to rest, Chantelleβ.
βAnd you Lewis, why do you care about me so much? I cheated
on you Lewisβπ
βChantelle, you need to sleep, we have exams tomorrowβ.
βLewis, I love you so much, but youβre just too good to
me. I want the badass Lewis I fell forβ.
βYou can have the bed, Iβll be on the sofaβ, he said
getting up, and leaving her to talk herself to sleep.
βLewis, I want you on the bed with meβ.
π
βChantelle sleepβ.
He went to the sofa and
laid there thinking.
He really loved
Chantelle, but what she did really broke his heart. But he felt that he
deserved it because he took her from her previous boyfriend.
He was indeed a bad-ass in the past, but he
fell hard for Chantelle and changed for her, but she doesnβt like the
change. She hurt him, but he still cared and it annoyed him.
Chantelle was finally
asleep. He covered her with his blanket and he hoped that she was going to be
fine the next morning for their final exams.
βͺ**********************
βLewis, whereβs sheβ, Amanda asked, worried.
βI donβt know when I woke up this morning, she wasnβt in my room,
I called her, but she didnβt pickβ.
βMiss Hastings, please take your seatβ, the
examiner said.
Amanda went to her
seat.
βItβs 9:30, you may start workβ.
Amanda looked at Lewis
worried.
It was past 20 minutes
and Chantelle wasnβt there.
Lewis was really
confused and worried.
After 25 minutes,
Chantelle walked in like she owned the place.
βYoung lady, can you please step outβ, the examiner said.
βWhy? Iβm not lateβ.
π€·π½ββ
βIβm sorry, but itβs passed 30 minutesβ.
βPlease check your time correctlyβ, she said.
The examiner looked at
the clock.
βIβm sorry; you may take your seatβ.
Chantelle smiled and
took her seat.
βͺ***************
After the exams, Lewis
quickly rushed out of the exam hall and Chantelle went after him.
βLewis, wait upβ, she said, catching up with him. But he ignored
her.
βLewis, please waitβ.
βWhat is it Chantelle?β
βIβm sorry for everything Iβve done and I shouldnβt have come
to your place yesterday andβ¦.β
βYou had all of us worried. Why didnβt you pick your
calls?β
βIβm sorry, but I wasnβt in the mood andβ¦..β
βItβs alright, I have to goβ, he said, walking
away and Chantelle let him go.
She stood there for a
while and her friends approached her.
βWhere were you Chantelle?β Amanda asked.
βIn the library prepping for the examsβ.
π
βYou had us all worriedβ, Betty said.
βIβm sorry about that, but I was pretty wasted yesterday and
didnβt get the chance to revise. So, I got up early in the
morning, took some aspirin, had a cup of coffee, cleaned up and I got to school
as early as 7amβ, she said smiling.
βYouβre pretty determined. Thatβs greatβ, Amanda said
smiling.
βBut why did you drink?β Betty asked.
βLong story, but guess whoβs losing her medicine
career? Me this girlβ, she said, lifting up her hand.ππ½
βWhat? what happened?β Amanda asked.
βMy mum happened, but I donβt want to talk about
it, and we have to get going, exams still continueβ.
βHmm, if you say so. Iβll see you girls
laterβ, Amanda said waking towards her car at the car park.
βSo, have you heard from Reece?β Betty asked.
βDonβt mention his name to me, pleaseβ.
βIβm sorryβ, she said.
βItβs fine. Iβll see you tomorrow Bettyβ, Chantelle said, and
she left.
